Notice Management: Handling & Responding for ITR compliance

This guide walks you through using the Direct Tax Notice Management feature in Clear. By the end of this tutorial, you'll know how to efficiently handle tax notices, navigate the Income Tax portal, and manage compliance with ease.

Clear Notice Management in Direct Tax focuses on two main areas: Income Tax Return Notice Management and TDS Notices within income tax returns. It handles both Pan notices and third-party notices, where information is sought from you. Additionally, it manages data from the E Verification portal, notices to Self, and notices to third parties within the Compliance portal. All of this is accessible with a single click.

The Income Tax portal organizes notice management consistently across all modules, making navigation intuitive. Start by reviewing the Income Tax Return module.

The dashboard in the Income Tax Return module provides a summary view. It displays the number of overdue notices, time-critical cases, cases due in the next 15 days for a reply, and total open cases for your business.

For detailed insights, explore a single Pan to view notices issued at that specific Pan level.

Switch between Self and Other notices using the interface toggle.

The Compliance portal's review screen lets you toggle between E Verification notices, notices to Taxpayer, and notices to third parties.

To sync with the ITR portal, navigate to the Actions menu on the top right and select 'Sync with the ITR portal'.

To connect to the Income Tax portal, simply key in your Pan ID and password. There is no need for captcha entry. Your credentials are securely stored after the first entry, facilitating easy access to the ITR portal simply by opening the model and clicking 'Connect'.

After that, you'll find the cases of the organization that are similar to what you'll find in the GST Notice Management section.

You can download all notices with a single click and upload any documents, including working documents or materials produced in person hearings. The system supports up to five files at once and maintains an audit trail of all changes made by users. You can edit certain details such as the current state and other relevant fields of the ITR portal.

For collaboration, add comments or capture specific metadata regarding a particular case.

If you need to download a report of all notices issued, use the 'Generate Report' menu.

For Notices third party and notices taxpayer, apply filters to focus on specific notice types. These filters streamline your workflow by narrowing down the notices you need to address.

By following this guide, you're now equipped to handle tax notices efficiently, ensuring compliance and saving time.
